CEO/FOUNDER WINS ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD PRESS RELEA

May 15, 2019  (New York, NY) – The Brooklyn Chamber awards 9 year chamber member, Debra Dixon-Anderson, owner of Light of Gold PR, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award is given in honor of  Debra Dixon-Anderson’s  advocacy and support of Entrepreneurs which is part of the Brooklyn Chamber’s mission. 

The Brooklyn Chamber advocates for economic development and growth throughout the borough and its member businesses. As Brooklyn evolves, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce works to stay up to date and evolve to offer the best services for its members. The organization recognizes Debra Dixon-Anderson’s contribution to the Brooklyn Entrepreneur and Business community as the founder of Light of Gold PR, Marketing and Consulting LLC. Debra Dixon-Anderson has been an Ambassador for the Brooklyn Chamber, a member of the Minority Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Committee, and has also been the Main Facilitator for  the Brooklyn Chamber Before Hours, a Fun Speed Networking Event, for over 6 years. 

Anderson was diagnosed with Stage 2 Her2 Positive Breast Cancer back in October 2017 and embarked on a 13 month Chemo Treatment regimen. During this time, Anderson transformed her life by incorporating self-care, as well as health and crisis management into her schedule, which included Chemo and Radiation Treatments in addition to running her business. She decided it was best to share her journey and her experiences going through as a businesswoman and a cancer survivor.  An integral part of Debra’s journey included relentlessly attending Brooklyn Chamber Networking Events, co-facilitating The Brooklyn Chamber Before Hours Events, attending New Member Meetings as a Brooklyn Chamber Ambassador to support new members, and much more.  Debra decided to use her experience of creating a business from the ground up as well as having to juggle taking care of her health to teach others not only the importance of self-care, but also the importance of networking and connections. 

“ I am honored to receive this award from the Brooklyn Chamber.  As a 9 year member of the Brooklyn Chamber, members are like family to me and just like I’ve extended support to members, I’ve received support as well.  Particularly through my battle with Stage 2 Breast Cancer.  I’ve had Brooklyn Chamber members sit me while I received Chemo and that means the world to me.  It is important for me to share the importance of  Self Care with other Business Owners and Entrepreneurs.  You never think you can receive a serious health diagnosis, but you can.”     said Debra Dixon- Anderson.
