Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Press Release

August 13, 2019 (New York, NY) – Light of Gold PR CEO and founder Debra Dixon- Anderson will be speaking at the Making Strides Against Cancer Kickoff Event this Thursday, August 15, at 7pm. Join us in the fight to defeat breast cancer. More awareness and money raised allows the continuation to educate people about reducing cancer risk and detecting it early as well as helps fund groundbreaking research. More than $64 million of funding is invested to 160 research grants as well providing nearly 480,000 rides to treatments. “It is such an honor to speak at the Kickoff Event”, Debra says.

Debra Dixon-Anderson, knows all too well about the ravages and side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in October 2017, and in the year since has undergone 16 rounds of chemotherapy, 25 radiation treatments, and a lumpectomy. According to Cancer.gov, an estimated 1.7 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2018 and approximately 38.4% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetime. However, there is good news in that there were an estimated 15.5 million cancer survivors in the U.S (2016) and the number is expected to increase to 20.3 million by 2026. “I am so happy to be apart of an event that not only spreads knowledge about breast cancer but also uses the funding towards treatments for patients as well as the  education needed when going through this journey.”, Debra continues.
